I was so excited when my friend introduced me to a new class of missing nutrients called glyconutrients. After hearing about how this discovery came about and how it addressed the problem of most autoimmune diseases. I wanted to share it with everybody I knew and was going to meet! Because I felt like it was the answer to every disease that we were dealing with in our nation right now.  So, I contacted and talked to everyone I could about the discovery of the new class of missing nutrients called glyconutrients.

There are many different names for the same missing nutrient one is saccharides, miracle sugars, or carbohydrates, but the scientific name is glyconutrients. Simply stated, the Greek word glyco refers to “sweet.” Hence, a glyconutrient is a biochemical that contains a sugar molecule. The prefix glyco can be placed in front of a fat, protein, or any molecule and suggests that a sugar is attached. Glycobiology is the study of the sugar portion of these proteins and fats. Like so many new frontiers in science, the role of these carbohydrates (sugars) was badly neglected and underestimated. They were at best considered a simple source of energy and at worst considered nothing more than a contaminant on the surface of the cell.

Virtually every cell in our bodies is covered with minuscule hair-like glycoforms. Until the invention of the electron microscope, scientists could not see these molecules on the surface of the cells. They could detect hairs (proteins and fats) but could not distinguish that on the surface of those hairs were trillions of other molecules–sugar molecules.

Glyco nutrients are not vitamins, minerals, proteins, fats, herbs, enzymes, or homeopathic drugs. They are carbohydrates. Just as there are essential proteins called amino acids and essential fats called fatty acids, glyconutritionals are the newly discovered class of necessary carbohydrate nutrients. Today more than 20,000 research papers on glycoproteins a year, over 50 every single day, are published worldwide. I would tell people “We have come too far with too little for too long”  that is how our health has become compromised. We used to have these nutrients on our table but because of over industrialization and the substitution of natural foods for processed foods they are missing in our diet today.

Glyconutritionals could quite possibly be more important than any of the other nutrients. They lie at the core of your cell’s ability to communicate all their needs—even their need for other nutrients. A lack of any of these sugars can lead to body system malfunction and poor nutrient assimilation, simply because the need was not properly communicated.

Because we perish for lack of knowledge in every walk of our lives, I knew it was important to share with people the knowledge of this new scientific discovery on how the cells communicate.  When I learned about this new class of missing nutrients, I was convinced this is why so many people were showing up with autoimmune disease, It made so much sense and I wanted everybody to know the truth of how the cells work and how science had discovered the new class of missing nutrients called glyconutrients.
